Autumn Mist

misty morning in regent's park during autumn

This photo was taken on a misty Tuesday morning in an atmospheric
Regent´s Park. I found the mist accentuated the detail. It operated like a backdrop and brought the small things like spider&#180’s webs and brightly coloured berries and leaves into sharp relief. I have included some of these photos in the new autumn gallery to be launched soon. Some of these photos were taken on Primrose Hill.

Autumn Leaves

Pond Life. Floating leaves, St James’s Park, London. While I wasn’t too successful in capturing the leaves turning on the trees, I have been amazed by the beautiful colours of the freshly fallen leaves in the parks of London.

Kent Apples

apple orchard in autumn

This week I went for an autumn walk in the Kent countryside with friends. We passed several apple orchards, some still working and some past their prime. It was a beautiful afternoon with spectacular views over the misty countryside dotted with oast houses and autumnal trees.

St Pancras Gas Holder

st pancras gas holders

This gas holder, probably built around 1861, is the last remaining structure on the site of the headquarters of the Imperial Gas Company built in 1824 in St Pancras. It somehow doesn’t look at all out of place in 21st Century St. Pancras.

Houseboats in Regent’s Park

Houseboats on the canal in London

This week’s photo could be entitled "Waiting for the Leaves to Turn". I went for a walk in Regent’s Park hoping to capture some shades of autumn but everything was still quite green. I turned my attention to the housing in the park instead and in particular this row of mobile homes on the canal.

Centre Point House

St Giles House Centrepoint London

I was in St Giles High Street this afternoon on what was a spectacular autumn, if not summer even, day. I looked at the almost completed Renzo Piano complex, Central St Giles but my attention was drawn to Centre Point House, one of my old favourites.

Autumn Still Life

conkers with rose

It&#180s autumn and it&#180s wet in London. Hence the indoor shot this week. The conkers were 4 for 20p from some enterprising kids up the street. I’m looking forward to some bright autumn days so that I can capture the change in the seasons.

Last of the Roses

pink rose

Autumn is here, but a fine display of the last of the roses can still be seen in Regent’s Park. Along with the many other photographers about on a clear Saturday afternoon, I thought I would capture one last rose until next year.
